Members of our club committee proudly travelled to Leicester on Saturday, June 7th, to attend the prestigious England Hockey Awards ceremony at the beautiful Athena venue. This star-studded event celebrates clubs and individuals nationwide for their outstanding contributions to playing and promoting hockey in England.

We were incredibly grateful to be nominated and shortlisted – a true testament to our mission of nurturing young players through their hockey journey into adulthood. The England Hockey awarding panel clearly agreed, bestowing upon Hawks HC the esteemed status of Highly Commended!

The award panel specifically highlighted:

• The vital importance of our mission to get and keep more young people involved in hockey.
• Our impressive growth to over 200 members in just our first season.
• Our notable successes across various competitions.

We were particularly delighted to share the shortlist with two other fantastic Sussex-based clubs:

• Crowborough: Commended for their significant community strides, including a new pitch, a growing junior section, and impressive adult league success.
• Brighton Rogues: Another club formed last year, recognized for upholding important values.

Rounding out the shortlist were Old Haberdasher, celebrated for their amazing community work, and the thoroughly deserving Keynsham Hockey Club, who ultimately topped the list for their extensive development efforts in their area. A huge well done to Keynsham!

Above all, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our junior members. Your trust, enthusiasm, and commitment are the very foundation of Hawks Hockey Club. Joining a newly formed club was a big step, and we truly appreciate everyone who has been a part of this incredibly successful first year.

We are now more inspired than ever to build on this momentum, continuing our mission to ignite a lifelong passion for hockey in every child who takes to the field as a Hawk!
