Hawks Hockey Club – U14 & U16 update
Whilst the U12 and U10 agegroups have been gearing up for the Regional In-2-hockey tournament at Hurst which was a resounding success the older boys and girls at Hawks Hockey Club have been participating in the South East Hockey leagues and the National England Hockey Cup competitions.
As a new club, pitching the level of competition for each team is a challenge but no matter what we have thrown at the children they have risen to the challenge with gusto and a great degree of success too.

UNDER 16 GIRLS
The U16 girls have proved to be great leaders of our club and hopefully an inspiration for the younger children coming through. Several have been seen helping at coaching of younger age groups as part of their Duke of Edinburgh awards, but in our inaugural season, they are currently sitting in 2nd place in the league and excitingly have reached the semi-finals of the England Hockey U16 Girls Plate competition. Still possibly two matches to play before the final (don’t ask!) however a place at the finals in Nottingham in April is within touching distance.
UNDER 14 GIRLS
The U14 Girls are regularly putting out two teams in both Tier 2 & Tier 3 which is an amazing achievement and testament to the commitment of everyone, as well as the support from some of the U12’s. Both teams are playing excellent hockey and despite playing against some well established teams are well poised to finish the season strongly.

BOYS
The U16 & U14 boys are in a combined team and have come up against some established and much older U16 teams but they are developing and improving every week and they should be extremely proud of the way they have performed no matter what the results and the recent 3-3 draw against a mixed Horley Mens XI should provide a confidence boost for the remainder of the season.
GIRLS DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
Finally, every Saturday, we have a mixed team of U16-U12 girls taking part in the Junior Development League. This is a great opportunity for children across the club who don’t get regular weekend hockey at school to play full pitch, 11-a-side matches. This team has grown in confidence from week to week and are rising up the league.

Everyone of the young people in these groups has embraced our values of Excellence, Fun and Inclusivity and we look forward to seeing them develop further over the remainder of the season.
Good luck to every Hawks team and especially to the U16 Girls in their Plate Semi-Finals.
