Hawks success at major tournament
On Sunday 23rd of February, Hawks HC players took part in the county In2Hockey tournaments, our first as a club.
This tournament is the biggest of the year, for the Under 10 and Under 12 age groups.
Huge participation
Hawks HC had a remarkable turnout at the tournament, with 11 teams, 88 players, and 11 coaches participating.
Three teams competed in the cup competition, a qualifier for a regional final later in the season, while eight teams participated in the county plate competition, which showcases hockey in Sussex.
This is a remarkable feat for a club in its first season.

THANK YOU
A massive thank you to all the young players who participated.
As a new club this season, it has been a significant leap of faith for our young players and their parents to support Hawks and entrust us with their hockey development.
The club’s committee is deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in us.
Style of hockey evident
A standout feature across all our teams was the clear payoff of their hard work in training. Some of the play on the pitch was truly exceptional. Our possession-based passing style, was a joy to watch.
While we’ve grown accustomed to seeing it in weekly practice sessions, witnessing 10-year-olds traverse the pitch with just two passes and exploit open channels in a tournament setting was particularly thrilling.
A massive well done to all the players, regardless of their team results, for showcasing our exciting and mature style of hockey throughout the competition.
Results
As well as having more teams entered in the tournament than anyone else, we did pretty well in the competition too, in all age groups and genders, the scores on the board were:
U10 Girls Cup – WINNERS (Progress to Regional) 🏆
U10 Plate – 1st, 2nd & 3rd place 🥇🥈🥉
U10 Boys Cup – Did not enter
U10 Boys Plate – WINNERS 🥇
U12 Girls Cup – WINNERS (Progress to Regional) 🏆
U12 Girls Plate – 1st, 2nd & 5th place 🥇🥈🏅
U12 Boys Cup – WINNERS (Progress to Regional) 🏆
U12 Boys Plate – 3rd place 🥉
An exceptional set of results, winning every cup we entered, winning and coming runners up in each of the girls plates, winning the boys U10 plate and being in the top 50% with all other teams.
AMAZING WORK!
Have fun, get excellent coaching, be included
While winning is great, the tournament really stands out as testimony that if we can include every young player, help them have fun and provide them good coaching, eveyone can enjoy & succeed at hockey. We particuarly look foward to all these young players carry on to become adult hockey players of the future, whatever their level.
